And It Is Official!!!

I can finally officially announce that this chick (yup, that be me!!!!) has been PROMOTED!!!! That is the 2nd promotion in less than 2 years. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen… I am a ROCK STAR! 🙂 Okay, maybe not literally… but I am pretty dang close to it. 😛

I had interviewed for this position sometime last month and have been impatiently waiting for the official job offer. It was unofficially announced that I got the job about 2 weeks ago…but I had to wait for my transfer paperwork to “go thru” before my new store could officially extend an offer to me. So yes… I will be leaving my current store to go to a bigger store… which means lots more opportunity for growth. And that’s what I’m all about. I’m excited and nervous… but I have at least another 3 weeks before I start on this new journey.  Great things come to those who wait….yeah right, great things come to those who work their butts off for it!!! 😉

There were lots to celebrate between the hubs and I. Earlier this month, he and his brother participated in StartUp Weekend Riverside for a phone app idea they had come up with a little while ago. It was a loooong 3-day event… held in Downtown Riverside near the Mission Inn… full of brainstorming, developing, and then presenting (pitching) their idea to a panel of judges (and some potential investors as well). And at the end of it all, they nailed it. Yup, proud wifey over here. They took first place and have been running with it ever since.

So to celebrate their win and my promotion, we went out to dinner. Nothing too fancy. Just a spontaneous “because the fridge is empty” kinda dinner. Yeah, don’t judge. We went to BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse to get our grub on.

And wait, there’s more!!! Because the hubs was confident I’d land the job and before it was even official (and because he loves me and thinks I’m just awesome), he bought me a brand new car!!!

And trust me… I really needed a new car. This is one I’ve had my eye on for quite some time now. And was beyond ecstatic when he said the words “let’s go buy you a car.”

It’s been a month full of crazy for me… and even though I’ve been on an exhausting emotional rollercoaster ride, it’s great to finally be able to celebrate some good news. 🙂

Life Happens

That’s always my excuse. But let’s face it. It really just does. Right? It’s been almost a month since I’ve written something. And in that short period of time, there have been things that I’ve been dealing with. Things like: doctor’s appointments (yes, plural), having to wait on job promotions, and just trying to balance life with work and my workouts.

I had taken an entire week off from working out a couple of weeks ago when I had 2 back-to-back doctor appointments. I never realized just how drained I would be after getting shots and blood work done. And I was already exhausted with work. So I just decided to take that week off to let my body rest. It was much needed. And, of course, it was kinda difficult to get back into the swing of working out again…but I did it.

So what exactly have I been up to (as far as the gym is concerned)? Weight lifting. Legs, arms, chest…everything. And I’ve also been doing the plank-a-day challenge – the same one I’ve been doing periodically for the past year or so. My goal is 5 minutes. I started last Tuesday the 7th. My only tip? Do not start (or do) the plank challenge on Abs day. You know, the days you do ab workouts. Because I did. And I usually average 2-minute planks, I was only able to do a 1-minute and 20 seconds plank the very first day. But that’s okay. The challenge is to do a plank a day… and each day, you increase your previous time by 10 seconds. Pretty simple, right? I took a day off from it on Sunday… and then a couple of days ago, I made the mistake of saving the plank challenge for last after a hardcore ab workout that I could not make it past 1:20. I attempted twice. Then gave up. Anyway, today I’m up to 2:50. That means I should be doing my 5-minute plank before the month is over! *sigh* We’ll see.

I’m also doing a 30-Day Squat Challenge.

I need all the help I can get to whip my booty into shape. Yeah, you know me… always up for a challenge. Summer is right around the corner. And I intend to be going to the beach a lot this summer. Bikini ready or not, I’m going!!!

So that’s what I’ve been up to. In a nutshell. No need for details. That stuff’s kinda boring anyway. 😛
