Baby #2 Bump Watch: 17 Weeks Preggers

So it’s taking me awhile to edit the gender reveal video… and I thought I’d have it done before it was time to post my 17 week update… but it just didn’t happen. I am working on it though! Hopefully next post will be the BIG REVEAL. Keep your fingers crossed!

17 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P is the size of a sweet potato (or onion as my pic says above)
  • His/her skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone
  • His/her umbilical cord is growing stronger and thicker
  • He/she weighs about 5 ounces now and is around 5 inches long from head to bottom – about the size of a sweet potato.
  • He/she can move his/her joints and his/her sweat glands are starting to develop

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: I don’t have a clue. I don’t own a scale. Not exactly sure if they’ll take my weight at my next doc appointment because it’s not a regular appointment. It’s the anatomical ultrasound appointment. But will let you know of any updates for sure.

Workouts: Nothing new. I’ve even considered maybe just omitting this part in my future updates but I might just surprise you (and myself) by doing some kind of prenatal workout. Squats maybe?

  • Always tired. Though I can’t really tell if it’s because I’m pregnant or because I have a very active toddler. Either way, I think I’ll be tired for the rest of my life.
  • Major case of mommy/pregnancy brain – not something to brag about
  • Bloat. Pretty much since day 1.
  • Headaches

Food Aversions: None really…my appetite’s actually been pretty normal lately. And although I haven’t craved meat, it doesn’t gross me out like it did.

Food Cravings: None I can think of.

Sleep: Still pretty comfortable. Although now that the bump is noticeably bigger, I’m trying to get used to sleeping on my left side again. I’ve caught myself lying on my back, which actually feels so much comfortable. And that’s weird to me because I’ve always been a side sleeper. Looks like I’m gonna have to trade in my memory foam pillow for the pregnancy pillow finally – I have been going back and forth between the 2 since the beginning.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases?  No. Not yet.

Stretch Marks: No new ones – hope it stays that way.

Miss Anything?: Working out. Gotta love it when FB memories pop up and those gym selfies pop up. I was so vain. And so fit! Can’t wait to be able to do it again!

Belly Button In or Out? In.

Wedding Rings On or Off? On!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? I’d say I’ve been pretty content. No major mood swings. Even my road rage isn’t so bad.

Any Movement? All the time! And feeling stronger by the day!

Looking Forward To? Nesting. Getting stuff ready for and making room for Baby P! Got lots to do and haven’t started yet because we were waiting to see what we were having. You know, so we know whether we get to keep Ella’s baby clothes or if we should start buying some baby boy stuff.

Anyway, I’m just about done editing the gender reveal video! Look for that post real soon!

Baby#2 Bump Watch: 16 Weeks Preggers

Ahhhh here we go again. I started my pregnancy updates at 26 weeks last time. Decided to start it earlier this time around. Kinda wish I had done it right from the start because so much has happened already!

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?
Apparently he/she is about to hit a growth spurt. I kinda feel like he/she already has. Because I look like I’m 6 months pregnant. Baby is going to double its weight and add inches to their length.

Right now, Baby is about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces.

Baby’s legs are much more developed, and his/her head is more erect than it has been. The patterning of his/her scalp has begun, though his/her locks aren’t recognizable yet. He/she is even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his/her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as Baby P #2 develops.
What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: At my appointment on Wednesday 4/12 I was up 4 pounds from the start of this pregnancy. My midwife gave me kudos for that.

Workouts: none. I try. But I’m exhausted. Running around at work and chasing after a toddler is enough workout for me right now.

Symptoms: Tired. Sleepy. Easily annoyed by stupid people 🤣. Some nasal congestion.

Food Aversions: Still can’t stand the thought of eating meat.

Food Cravings: None yet. A couple of weeks ago I was all about them fries. This week it’s whatever.

Sleep: Is fine when I can get some. I average 6-7 hours of sleep a night. And then on weekends I’ve been taking advantage of napping when Ella naps. It’s awesome.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases?  No. We were waiting to see what we were having first before we made any real purchase. (And just so you know, we just had our gender reveal over the weekend, but won’t be publishing a post till after this update).

Stretch Marks: a few pre-existing ones…you know the ones that appeared at like the very last second of my last pregnancy. But no new ones. My belly isn’t that big yet.

Miss Anything?: I miss my old pre-first-pregnancy body. Period.

Belly Button In or Out? In.

Wedding Rings On or Off? On! No swelling yet!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Definitely a combination of both. Happy to be alive. Moody because of annoying people. 😂

Any Movement? Yup yup. Flutters and a few thumps here and there. I love it!!!

Looking Forward To? Finally sharing the details of our gender reveal! I have yet to collect video footage that I can chop up and edit…. or try to.
As promised, here is a pic of my Bump Watch weeks 10-15.

And I’m hoping I can get a post done this weekend of our gender reveal from last weekend!

Keep your fingers crossed!

Pregnancy Q&A: 2nd Edition

These things are always fun to do. It was just a matter of finding the time to do it.

Anyway, for those of you who are curious to know…. read on and find out the deets on this pregnancy 😬

Q: How did you find out you were pregnant?
A: Just took a normal Home Pregnancy Test

Q: What kind of Pregnancy test did you take?
A: Same cheap-o one I took last time. One from the 99 cent Store.

Q: How many?
A: Just one. I was pretty sure it was gonna turn out positive.

Q: What were your 1st symptoms?
A: First I had major cravings for all things salty. And sour. And vinegary. Then my monthly visitor never showed. I kept thinking it would come but it never did. And then I was sensitive to all smells. Gagging, dry heaving, mild nausea happened. And my boobs looked like they grew a couple of cup sizes overnight 😳. So I finally decided to take the test.

Q: Who did you tell first?
A: the Hubby of course.

Q: Who was with you when you found out?
A: I was kind of solo in the restroom. But the hubby and kid were both home at the same time. Just not in the restroom with me.

Q: My 1st reaction?
A: Almost shocked. Because we had barely started “trying” for our 2nd baby. Last time, it took almost a year.

Q: Was your baby planned?
A: Definitely.

Q: How far along were you when you found out?
A: Found out on February 5th… I think I was about 5 1/2 weeks.

Q: How did your parents/family react?
A: They were super happy.

Q: How did you tell your friends?
A: Same way I announced it on here. With that pic of Ella. But without a caption. I wanted to see who would figure it out. For those that didn’t figure it out right away, I left it at that.

Due Date: September 27, 2017

Q: Do you know the sex?
A: No, not yet. But there is an email, sitting in my Inbox, with the results of my 2nd NIPT blood test that includes Baby #2’s gender. It’s been sitting in my inbox for 2 weeks now… we’ll be having a gender reveal on April 15th.

Q: Any names?
A: Nope. Not this time. Not any that I love anyway. The ones that were on my list last time doesn’t sound right this time around.

Q: Were you trying long?
A: Not long at all. When I said we started “trying”, I was simply saying we weren’t doing anything to not get pregnant. We pretty much got it on the first try.

Q: Any Ultrasounds?
A: Yup. 3. And he/she is super cute!!!

First Prenatal Appointment @ 8 (almost 9) weeks

Part 1 NIPT screening @ 11 weeks

@ 12 weeks

Q: Have you heard the heart beat?
A: Yup! As recent as yesterday!!! 😍

Q: Who do you think it will look like?
A: I want it to look more like me!!! I’m kind of tired of hearing that Ella “looks nothing like you” or that “she looks more and more like your husband!”. And I’m even more annoyed when people give me the “yeah right” look when I tell them “for your information, she looks like my baby self… not the ‘me’ now”. Because seriously, go look at my baby pictures and you will see the resemblance! But because our firstborn is lighter complected than I am, people assume she looks nothing like me. #EndRant

Q: Will the baby have siblings?
A: Big sister Ella and big fur sister Tipsy.

Q: Have you felt the baby move?
A: Yes. A lot of flutters and little thump-like kicks. And I didn’t realize just how much I’ve missed feeling it till I finally felt it again.

Q: How do you feel?
A: Good! Super effing tired. But that’s just the all around nature of being a parent and Jane. 😬

Q: Do you have morning sickness?
A: Not the throwing up kind. But the nausea, food aversions, hungry-but-no-appetite kind. And it wasn’t the kind of nausea where I felt the need or want to throw up. No, it came in the form of hunger pains… feeling like I was starving. The minute I would start eating, I’d lose my appetite. Oh and then I’d have this weird aftertaste all day long. Didn’t matter what I ate. It lingered. All. Day. Long.

Q: Do you have any cravings?
A: Nothing crazy yet. I’ve had the strangest craving for some ramen lately tho. It comes and goes.

Q: Do you have any food aversions?
A: Yes. Meat. I have no appetite for it. Some days I’ll try a chicken dish or a burger but immediately afterwards I’m wishing I didn’t. So I’ve kind of stayed away from it altogether.

Q: Do you have any mood swings?
A: I think it’s almost a given. I was always cranky especially around weeks 7-10. The hubs would call me out on it all the time. And I didn’t even realize how bad it was till he did. I’d like to think I’ve gotten better though since I’ve entered my 2nd trimester.

Q: How far along are you now?
A: 16 weeks prego as of yesterday, Wednesday 4/12.

I wanted to include baby bump pics of weeks 10 thru 15 in this post but I just realized that the photos of weeks 13, 14 and 15 are on the hub’s phone. But I’ll include it in the next pregnancy update post.

I promise.

And Time For Round 2!!!

Miss Ella Bella wants to say hi ya’ll!!!

She’s definitely excited about somethin’!

And if ya missed it…maybe this one will fill you in on her little secret…

Yup. Here we go again…Yours truly is preggers with Baby #2!!!

I figured I’d announce it now since everyone from The Hills is announcing theirs. First Lauren Conrad, then Whitney Port, and now Heidi Montag? Lots of “famous” babies due this year. How exciting!!!!

Ok so I dunno if it’s crazy that we’re having babies close together in age… but what’s done is done and there’s no turning back! Ella was 18 months when her future sibling was conceived… and will be about 2 years old and 3 months when Baby #2 arrives. Ella is one active toddler so we definitely will have our work cut out for us. But if there’s anything we’ve learned about being parents, it’s this: be ready to roll with the punches and just do it ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Originally, before we had Ella, we planned to start trying for Baby #2 when Ella turned 10 months old. Yeah right. That changed the minute we realized how much we underestimated how hard it was to care for 1 baby let alone 2 babies. But because we only plan on having 2 kids, we wanted to make sure to have them close together. I mean, my sister and I are a couple of years apart and I loved growing up with her. And I want the same for Ella.

So here we are. Expecting our 2nd child. Excited of course. But extremely nervous about going through this whole baby thing again. The good thing is, we know what it’s like to have 1 baby. The bad thing is, we have no clue what it’s like to have a toddler and a baby.

Anyway, I’ll be posting updates as best I can on this pregnancy. I’ll be posting another Q&A like I did the last time. Followed by a gender reveal recap that is set to happen on April 15th. And all the weekly updates much like last time.

Most importantly I’m hoping to just be able to blog more than I have about any and everything.

So stay tuned for more!

Happy Aloha Friday To You!

It’s Aloha Friday! No work till Monday! Yay!

I didn’t go to work today because of this thing…

She came home early!!!

There was a storm expecting to roll in this weekend to the area where Grandma lives and all that rain, snow, and black ice, it would have been too dangerous. Originally the hubs and I had planned to drive up there tonight and then back Sunday. But with a huge storm coming, plans had to change.

So last night, our baby came home. And we were super stoked.

And I decided to stay home with her today to make sure she was well rested and ready to go to a new sitter come Monday. I didn’t want to just throw her into a new situation after being gone for almost 2 weeks.

Though I must say…I’m not minding it at all one bit. So far we’ve played with every single toy she owns… like they were brand new and she’s never seen them before. We’ve already had 2 meals. We’ve cuddled a lot. And now she and I are about to go down for a nap. Yup. Mama’s taking a nap too. It’s been a long and tiring week. I’ve earned this much needed nap.

So cheers to the freakin’ weekend! Hope your Friday is awesome…even if you had to work. The weekend is just a few short hours away!

Spring Break

I think I deserve a pat on back.

No really. I do.

You see… I’ve survived a week without my child. With one more week to go. And I’m holding up pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

Ella is only a few months shy of turning 2 years old. And she’s taken her first spring break vacation without mommy and daddy all by herself. Well, not exactly by herself… she’s spending Spring Break with her grandma and grandpa up north near Lake Tahoe along with 3 of her cousins. Of course I was reluctant to let her go without me at such a young age, but she loves spending time with her cousins and I thought this would be a great opportunity for her to get used to going off to grandma’s without us. I mean, one day when she’s older, I want to be able to send her off to spend Christmas, Spring, or Summer break with my family in Hawaii.

We knew it would be hard to let her go. I mean, I have not been away from her since she was born. Yeah sure, I am away from her when I’m at work during the day… but I have never spent a night without her. So this was a big deal for us.

I guess it’s safe to say that my child is having a blast.

While mom and dad are missing her a lot, she’s off enjoying the outdoors.

Playing in grandma’s backyard (complete with a custom playground that was built just for the grandchildren)…

Sledding in the snow not far from the house…

Swimming at the community pool…

Even going bowling for the first time…

My baby is growing up so quickly. And in this short amount of time she’s grown up even more. I can’t wait until she’s back home with us, but it makes me so happy to see her enjoying herself with her family and making memories for herself and everyone she’s with.

So yes… I deserve a pat on my back.

And maybe some cheesecake. Continue reading
