Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 27 Weeks Preggers

27 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P weighs almost 2 lbs and measures about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended…so about the size of a cauliflower or head of lettuce.
  • She sleeps and wakes at regular intervals, opens and closes her eyes, and could potentially even be sucking her fingers.
  • She is super active now which means her brain tissue is continuing to develop.
  • She is breathing (amniotic fluid) but her lungs are still immature but would be capable of functioning (with a lot of medical help) if she were to be born now.
  • And it is very common for her to have episodes of baby hiccups (that rhythmic movements I am feeling from time to time) that lasts only a few moments.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: at my last doc appointment on June 30th, I found out I was still at 17 lbs gained since the start of this pregnancy. Totally didn’t gain anything but maybe a few ounces since my last appointment about 3 weeks prior. I also still feel like that’s a lot but my doctor didn’t seem too concerned. So I guess I shouldn’t be either.

Workouts: not a damn one. Just the hustle and bustle of my work life.

  • Mild leg cramps at night…especially when I was up visiting my mother-in-law over the weekend. Not exactly sure if it’s because of the altitude since she lives in the mountains.
  • Lower back pain
  • Exhaustion
  • Hot flashes
  • Some headaches

Food Aversions: it’s been pretty good lately.

Food Cravings: sweets. Junk food.

Sleep: fine except for all the trips to the restroom.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? First baby gift from my favorite sister in the whole wide world!!!

The Sea Punk Tokidoki print Jujube diaper bag. The BRB (Be Right Back). Super cute!!!

Stretch Marks: still the same ones

Miss Anything?: I miss being able to just walk without waddling or feeling like I’ve done a million squats. I’m barely about to enter into my last and final trimester and I’m already feeling like I can barely move.

Belly Button In or Out? Out

Wedding Rings On or Off? On! But I noticed my fingers were a little puffy over the weekend. Must be the heat.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy! Not as irritable this week as the last one.

Any Movement? She seems to be rolling a lot more than kicking and punching. I guess she’s still got plenty of room to be rolling around in there. Her kicks and punches have been pretty mild.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week?

Took a trip up north to get Ella. Had a good time just relaxing and enjoying nature. Spent some time sightseeing in Tahoe. And then came back home in time to celebrate the 4th with my father in law and the rest of the fam. Oh! And since Ella was up at her grandma’s house on her birthday, we had a little celebration for her on the 4th as well. It was a pretty awesome weekend.

Looking Forward To? Shopping this weekend for our maternity family photo shoot next week! Yup.

Spring Break

I think I deserve a pat on back.

No really. I do.

You see… I’ve survived a week without my child. With one more week to go. And I’m holding up pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

Ella is only a few months shy of turning 2 years old. And she’s taken her first spring break vacation without mommy and daddy all by herself. Well, not exactly by herself… she’s spending Spring Break with her grandma and grandpa up north near Lake Tahoe along with 3 of her cousins. Of course I was reluctant to let her go without me at such a young age, but she loves spending time with her cousins and I thought this would be a great opportunity for her to get used to going off to grandma’s without us. I mean, one day when she’s older, I want to be able to send her off to spend Christmas, Spring, or Summer break with my family in Hawaii.

We knew it would be hard to let her go. I mean, I have not been away from her since she was born. Yeah sure, I am away from her when I’m at work during the day… but I have never spent a night without her. So this was a big deal for us.

I guess it’s safe to say that my child is having a blast.

While mom and dad are missing her a lot, she’s off enjoying the outdoors.

Playing in grandma’s backyard (complete with a custom playground that was built just for the grandchildren)…

Sledding in the snow not far from the house…

Swimming at the community pool…

Even going bowling for the first time…

My baby is growing up so quickly. And in this short amount of time she’s grown up even more. I can’t wait until she’s back home with us, but it makes me so happy to see her enjoying herself with her family and making memories for herself and everyone she’s with.

So yes… I deserve a pat on my back.

And maybe some cheesecake. Continue reading

Trip Down Memory Lane

4 years ago today, the hubs and I became officially husband and wife. We said our “I do’s” in front of our closest family and friends in beautiful Hawaii. On Oahu. At Lanikuhonua. It was definitely one of the best days ever. I know it sounds a bit cliche, but I had the best time the entire day. Getting ready, taking pictures…just enjoying this special day with all the important people in my life. It was just awesome.

I’m going to refrain from writing too much in this post. I don’t wanna bore you with words. So I’m just gonna show you some pictures.

I apologize if the quality of some of the pics aren’t that great. The blurry ones were taken on old skool cell phones and/or scanned and cropped from actual photo prints. But anyway, hubs and I go way back to 2001. That very first pic? We were dating for about 2 months. We went up to Big Bear to go sledding. My very first time sledding. It wasn’t that bad…until we slammed into a tree. Let me rephrase that. hit a tree. That’s what I get for trying to sled down the hill with 2 other people on a 2-person sled. My college roomie sat in the front, me in the middle, and hubs in the back. Yup. And I was the only one that hit the tree. No big injuries. Just a bruised up leg.

Okay, okay…  I’ll try to keep the anecdotes to a minimum.

On to the wedding pics!!!

And there ya have it! An awesome day, right? Hope you enjoyed taking this trip down memory lane with me. It was fun. Hope you liked it!!!

The Cutest Surprise

Meet Ladybugs (London) and Pear Bear (Paris).

On Sunday morning, these 2 surprised us with a birthday cake.

Made for Auntie (me), Uncle, and Daddy.

Lady has been singing “Happy Birthday” to us for about a week now and could not wait to make birthday cake.

When the hubs and I came out of our room and walked into the kitchen, Lady serenaded us with her own rendition of the famous song while Pear Bear smiled and waited impatiently for us to cut the cake.

I actually have the performance on video on my phone but had issues uploading it so it didn’t make the cut.

Anyway, here is the cake…

Made with love.

2 blue candles and 1 pink candle.

Lady sure knows how to pay attention to details!

And it was pretty yummy. I think I ate about half that cake by myself.

And I’m not joking either.

After that, it was time for presents.

Lady chose a mask for the hubs.

And for me, it was all about Hello Kitty.

And this…

Yup. She knows her auntie well.

Let me explain… I work with my hands. And I’m always getting cuts and bruises at work.

So I will most definitely be putting these babies to use.

I just thought I’d share with you one of the cutest birthday celebrations this month.

Oh! And before I end this post…

Wanna wish these 2 cutie pies a Happy Birthday!

(If you don’t know by now, those are the twins. Hubs is on the right)

First Of Many

It’s my birthday month! Wooohooo! Not gonna think about the fact that I’m getting older. Instead, I’m gonna think about how much fun it is to spend time with family and friends.

Today was the first of many celebrations to come this month. Sushi and bowling to celebrate 6 birthdays. Yup. February and March babies in the house! Fist pump. Ok, I’m joking. No fist pump. But really, 6 birthdays were celebrated today.

March Babies:

the hubs’ and his twin’s

Daniel and Darrell
March 11

their best friend Lloyd

March 21

February Babies:

the best friend’s wife Heidi, and my sister-in-law (bro-in-law’s wifey) Viviana…

Heidi February 18
Vivi February 26

Sushi is one of my favorites to indulge in. I will never say no to sushi. Ever.

Okay so where did we go? We originally planned to go to the one by our house called Oishii Sushi. At 1pm. Pulled up to the joint only to find they don’t open till 4pm on Sundays. Didn’t have a Plan B, so we looked up a place on Yelp. Found one in Riverside called Sushi Asahi.

We got there and waited an hour to be seated. Apparently it’s the best all you can eat sushi around. And guess what… that’s exactly what I did. I ate all I could eat.

I am an Island girl at heart. Love me some raw fish. This is what I ordered:

Rainbow Roll

not the best I’ve had, but it was still good

Asahi Roll

soooo good

Tiger Roll

2 orders… one was mine, the other belonged to Vivi

This is what the hubs and my bro-in-law ordered.

Chicken Teriyaki and white rice

Not sure if you remember… but I think I’ve mentioned before that he is not a fan of seafood. And he could have easily said he wanted to go somewhere else since it’s his birthday, too. But he knows how much I love the stuff…so he insisted we do sushi. Awww…my Bubbies is such a sweetheart. 🙂

After sushi, it was off to the bowling alley. I haven’t bowled in awhile. But the guys were excited to go…so then it was my turn to “suck it up” and just enjoy the activity.

the scoreboard at the end of game 2, beginning of game 3. If you’re wondering where the ladies’ names are, we deleted them at the end of game 1 and we weren’t able to change the names.

We played 3 games. The first we played for individual scores. I totally sucked at it. I think I came in last. Don’t even ask what that lousy score was. I will just stick to styling mannequins and arts & craft stuff thank you very much. But the hubs won (wooohooo!). Then for the second and third game, we teamed up. Couple against couple. It would go like this: 1st frame, ladies bowled the first shot, and then the fellas bowled the second shot. Next frame, we switched. So on and so forth. Hubs and I won the 2nd game. Our final score was 90. Heidi & Lloyd 88. Darrell and Vivi 84. Last game we came in 2nd…or last. I can’t remember. 😛

It was definitely a good time. Enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to the rest of the month. 🙂

I’m finally able to sit down and hash out a blog post. Almost 7pm and I’ve worked out, showered, and had dinner. And guess what. I’m ready for bed. Spent the last 30 minutes looking for a phone charger that seems to have disappeared. I think I’ve completely lost it. My mind. And my phone charger. A small part of me is hoping I left it at work…but for some odd reason… I’m totally thinkin’ I lost it in transit from work to home. Yup. Story of my life.

Okay. So what I wanted to write about tonight, before I became distracted with the whole phone charger ish, is of our trip to Knott’s Berry Farm over the weekend.

Very fun place to go. Not as big a park as Disneyland, but still very fun to visit nonetheless. And this day was all about London. My niece. Who is at that age where every thing excites her.

What I loved most about this entire day is watching her face light up when she saw the rides and the Peanuts Gang. You know, Snoopy…Patty….Woodstock. Well…Woodstock was there, but Ladybugs did not want to go near him. Just Patty. And Snoopy.

We got there in time to catch the Wild West Stunt Show. I thought it was a pretty cool show to watch. More comical than anything else.

I don’t think Ladybugs cared for it much. She was pretty eager to get on the rides. And for a 3 year old, she sure wasn’t afraid to get on the rides by herself! She even wanted to get on the adult rides. Oh she’s gonna be a blast to ride with on the big kid rides at Magic Mountain when she gets older…that is, if she’ll let us ;-).

Us big kids got on some rides, too. Most of ’em were little kid rides… but we did get to squeeze in a couple of the big kid rides. Like the Xcelerator and the Sierra Sidewinder (the only 2 names I can remember). And, of course… I have no pics to post but trust me…they were fun!!!

So it was a pretty good day. London enjoyed herself very much. It was sooo worth going on a day that could have easily been the perfect “Lazy Sunday” because we all know cool weather equals cuddle weather, right?!

Anyway, some highlight pics to end this post…

Can you tell just how much we LOVE this kid?

Happy New Year

2013. Oh how time flies. Each year seems to come and go quicker than the last. I remember being a kid and wishing that time would just fast forward to age 16. Then age 21.  And now, at almost age 32, I’m wishing I could go back and tell my young self that I shouldn’t try to will Father Time along…that I should enjoy being a kid… enjoy being in the present…and just embrace life. And it’s funny, that even though I’m almost 32… I still feel like I’m not old enough for all this adult grown up stuff.

Okay, so on to the fun stuff!!!

New year. Out with the old…in with the new. Yay or nay? Any New Year’s Resolutions? Still workin’ on the old ones? Or planning on making brand new ones? As for me, resolutions are just not my style. Only because I recognize that I’m a work in progress all year long… and I’m constantly growing and changing, making long and short term goals for myself. Short term goals have a deadline to ’em… and there’s just a thing about setting resolutions at the start of a new year that just totally feels so restrictive and it just messes me up psychologically that I feel like I’m just setting myself up for failure. That’s just me, personally. And so I hardly ever make ’em. But this year, I do want to make just one. And I think I may have mentioned this before… but I’d really like to make a commitment to giving my blog some love. Investing some time into me. And then sharing my experiences with the blog community. Seems only fair right? I’m still an amateur in the blog world. But give me some time… I’ll figure it all out one day.

I have exciting plans for 2013. BIG plans. For me, at least. Achievements both personally and professionally… and I cannot wait to share them all with you when time allows me to reveal great news. 2012 was a great year for me. Learned a lot about myself. Made some new friends. Made career advancements. Made lots of memories. Wish I could have shared a lot of it with you, but I sucked at time management this holiday season…so maybe sharing these photos with you can kinda make up for it a little.

Christmas celebration was split in 2. We couldn’t make it to Hawaii this year to spend Christmas with my family because of work…but we will one year. Anyway, Christmas Eve, the hubs and I went over to his paternal grandparents’ house and had a quiet dinner with his dad and grandparents. Then Christmas morning we drove down to San Diego to spend the day with his mom and stepdad and all siblings and their spouses and children.

Here’s our annual family Christmas portrait…

From Our Family To Yours… Happy Holidays! (better late than never right?)

I don’t have any pics from Thanksgiving… was too busy grubbin’ on some food, didn’t even think twice about taking pics. Just self pics but who wants to see that?

And I do have some pics from last night. Had a great New Year’s Eve. Definitely some fun times. Great company, lots of food, and lots of entertaining moments. Let’s just say there’s never a dull moment in my life. I’m talkin’ red pants, karaoke, and dance battles between grown men (brought to you by Xbox’s Dance Central and Just Dance), and lots and lots of tequila shots.

Me with my little Ladybugs

me with the mister

the grown men being schooled by a toddler, and my bro-in-law in red pants

Yup, I’d say we ended 2012 with a bang. Fireworks in the backyard and everything. Complete awesomeness.

2013 will be even better. I just know it.

So I hope you stick with me… for as long as possible. I promise to make my blog entries a little bit more exciting to read.

Happy New Year! 🙂
