Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 34 Weeks Preggers

34 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P now weighs about 4 3/4 lbs, is almost 18 inches long and is the size of a cantaloupe.
  • Her fat layers – which will help regulate her body temperature once she’s born – are filling her out, making her rounder.
  • Her skin is also smoother than ever.
  • Her central nervous system and lungs are continuing to mature.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: Look for it in my 36 week update post!!!

Workouts: nada!

Symptoms:

  • Heartburn. Major. Like I couldn’t sleep at night major. No bueno.
  • TMI alert – constipation. Not too bad. But definitely uncomfortable.
  • Vaginal discharge. More than usual. Gross.
  • More swelling due to heat and pregnancy.

Food Aversions: sometimes I don’t like the food I just finished consuming.

Food Cravings: Food from this Asian place I haven’t ate at in the long time. Hubby got some for me over the weekend. And I did not enjoy it at all.

Sleep: And I am finally having trouble rolling over in bed. And getting out of bed. The belly just weighs so much now.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Not this week.

Stretch Marks:  It looks like I’ve gained some new ones. Can’t confirm it till after Baby is here…and then I will be able to assess the damage some more.

Miss Anything?: Not waddling. Looking cute. Now I just look like a huge pregnant lady that’s about to pop any day now.

Belly Button In or Out?  It’s never going back in, I’m afraid.

Wedding Rings On or Off? On.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Emotional rollercoaster ride over here! I had a brief moment the other day when I thought of my Ella Bella and immediately felt sad… she’s growing up so fast and I just realized that in just a few weeks, it will no longer be just me and Ella. I know I should be happy that I’m welcoming another baby girl… but I just can’t help but feel sad, too

Any Movement? Yes sir!

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Not really. Same ole same ole. Just been trying to rest up a lot. Baby P will be here pretty quick and I’m not looking forward to the sleep deprivation part of this whole thing!

Looking Forward To? Our baby shower in a couple of weeks! The hubs took the reigns on this one and planned the whole thing so I wouldn’t have to stress out about it. It’s more of a sprinkle. We don’t expect a lot of people to be there so it’ll be a nice little intimate gathering to celebrate the new baby. Should be fun! Can’t wait.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 33 Weeks Preggers

It’s been crazy for me at work, trying to get some big projects done before I go on maternity leave so it’s taken me awhile to get to my updates. But I’ll get ya’ll caught up soon enough…

33 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P weighs a little over 4 lbs. and has passed the 17-inch mark – she’s as big as a head of celery!
  • She might even grow up to a full inch this week.
  • She is rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look, and her skeleton is hardening.
  • The bones in her skull aren’t fused together, which will allow her to move and slightly overlap, making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. These bones won’t fuse entirely until early adulthood so they can grow as her brain and other tissues expands during infancy and childhood.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: will know at my next doctor’s appointment at 36 weeks! For now, we can just assume it’s slowly going up and up and up.

Workouts: I workout in my dreams. Seriously… too tired and too sore to do any other workout besides walking.

Symptoms: nothing new. Refer to the previous post… I’m pretty sure my symptoms have been pretty consistent this entire trimester.

Food Aversions: none

Food Cravings: any and everything. Donuts are always at the top of my list. Followed by soda (like coke or pepsi), and occasionally ice cream.

Sleep: still sleeping pretty good, and only getting up once maybe twice to go to the restroom.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Just a couple of things: 1) Halo Bassinest fitted sheet and 2) Halo wearable blanket.

Stretch Marks:  I think there might be some new ones…

Miss Anything?: yes… all the simple things like being able to just get up off the couch without any struggle.

Belly Button In or Out?  I don’t think I’ll really have one at the end of this pregnancy

Wedding Rings On or Off? They are still on!!!!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Definitely a combination of both. And it really just depends on who I’m interacting with.

Any Movement? Yes! She never stops, my little ninja.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Nah. I’m pretty boring…so nothing really exciting has happened. Just continuing to nest, nest, nest!

Looking Forward To? Going on maternity leave and spending some much needed time with my one and only child until Baby #2 arrives.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 32 Weeks Preggers

32 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P weighs about 3 3/4 pounds and measures about 16.7 inches long and is about the size of a jicama!
  • I’m gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to Baby P.
  • She’s going to gain about 1/3 of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb.
  • She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair.
  • Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: Had my doctor appointment on August 2nd. I gained approximately 8 lbs from my last appointment at the end of June. Total weight gained since start of pregnancy: 25 lbs. Keep your fingers crossed… trying not to gain any more than I really have to.

Workouts: ha! This prego lady ain’t doing anything extra walking or lifting outside of what I do at work as well as trying to keep up with my toddler who won’t let me relax when we get home for the day. So yeah… workouts will resume 6 weeks postpartum thank you very much!

Symptoms:

  • Just being plain uncomfortable – getting more and more difficult to get up from sitting position, from laying in bed… just difficult to move period.
  • Shortness of breath without even walking much or far… Baby P is really taking up a lot of room in my belly.
  • Raging hormones – major mood swings from one extreme to the next.
  • Fatigue. Super freaking tired on the daily.
  • Carpal tunnel and weird cramping in my hands and feet at the most random times

Food Aversions: none I can think of

Food Cravings: everything sweet and bad for your health. Like root beer floats. And cheese. Lots of it.

Sleep: still able to sleep well. No insomnia here. No restless leg syndrome here. *knock on wood*

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Bought 4 new onesies from work.

And the 4th one – front n back…

How freaking cute is that?!

And from here on out, I will be making purchases for other items I need (and want) for baby. Like new burp rags, wash clothes, bandana bibs, muslin blankets, swaddles, and wearable blankets. And then once I’m on maternity leave, depending on if we get gifts from friends and family, I’ll be finalizing my shopping lists of must haves before Baby P arrives. Lots to do before she arrives!!!

Stretch Marks:  I think I see some new ones. There’s some red marks under what’s supposed to be my belly button. The area itches. I’m pretty sure there will be stretch marks there. *sigh*

Miss Anything?: being able to walk without waddling

Belly Button In or Out?  Very much an outtie

Wedding Rings On or Off? On!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? This week? Pretty chill. And happy.

Any Movement? Hell yeah…

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Totally drawing a blank here. Guess that means nothing really exciting and new has been going on. Except for the growing belly and the constant reminders that I look like I’m about ready to pop. Yup… at this point in time, it doesn’t even faze me anymore. I kind of agree that I’m huge.

Looking Forward To? Going on maternity leave! 3 more weeks!!!

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 31 Weeks Preggers

31 Weeks

And, of course….another cute moment between mother and daughter….

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • She is measuring over 16 inches long and weighs about 3 1/3 lbs making her about the size of a coconut and is heading into a growth spurt!
  • She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump up as needed fat accumulates under her skin.
  • She is probably moving a lot, too, which can make sleeping a bit difficult because her kicks and somersaults may keep me up – which I don’t mind because that just means Baby P is active and healthy!

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: will give an update in the next post! Since my doc appointment happened at the start of my 32nd week

Workouts: workout? What’s that?

Symptoms:

  • Major drooling. Yup. Gross but true. I didn’t realize it was pregnancy related but I noticed the drooling for about the last month or so? I don’t usually drool but it never dawned on me that it could be pregnancy related until I saw some article about pregnancy symptoms pop up on my FB newsfeed. But yeah… makes sense. Extra saliva = drooling problems. Go figure.
  • Aches and pains. All over.
  • Pregnancy brain. It’s real yo!
  • Cankles. Swollen because of the heat.
  • Frequent trips to the restroom.
  • Extreme fatigue.

Food Aversions: none

Food Cravings:

  • Nacho Cheese Doritos w/sour cream
  • Fried chicken. Like country fried yumminess.

Sleep: still pretty good. Even with the bathroom trips, I’m able to go right back to sleep.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? we ordered our maternity photos! Gotta say… our toddler stole the show. As far as baby stuff… will be making purchases in the weeks to come. She’ll be here before we know it… we need to buy some things before that happens.

Stretch Marks: still no new ones.

Miss Anything?: just being able to get in and out of bed with ease!!! Ohhhh the simple things in life we take for granted.

Belly Button In or Out? I think after this pregnancy, it may never go back in 😂

Wedding Rings On or Off? It came off for a couple of days because the heat just made my fingers swell. But they’re back on!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? I would say it was an emotional one. Just a few issues that I can thank my raging hormones for sure. There were some tears shed. Some moments of emotional outbursts. And then even some sadness. I won’t go into detail about the chain of events that led to this emotional rollercoaster ride but I think it’s something that started off very early on in this pregnancy that I just tried to push to the back of my mind. And then I think the anxiety of my fast approaching due date triggered something that just sent me into a state of emotional instability… it wasn’t pretty. But I’m good now.

Any Movement? Yes! Non-stop! She’s definitely running out of room!

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Probably the only fun thing this week was getting to see the digital gallery of our maternity shoot and picking out our favorites! I’m looking forward to getting them in the mail so I can put them out on display!

Maternity Collage

Looking Forward To? Going shopping for this baby of mine. Even though we have a lot of things from Ella, there’s still some things we need for our #2. Some people might think we don’t need more stuff but I beg to differ. So I’m excited to go on a little shopping spree for this little princess.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 30 Weeks Preggers

Holy cow!!! It’s sooooo freaking crazy how quickly time has whizzed by. The next 10 weeks will go by even quicker, I just know it. I will be going on maternity leave at the end of August and then Baby P #2 may make her appearance as early as 2 weeks after that. Her sister definitely didn’t wait till 40 weeks to come, that’s for sure. It’s exciting, no doubt… but I’m definitely starting to feel nervous about it all.

On to my weekly update….

30 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P is about 15.7 inches long and weighs almost 3 lbs – about the size of a large cabbage!
  • She is surrounded by a pint and a half of amniotic fluid, but will lessen as she gets bigger and takes up more space in my uterus.
  • Her eyesight is continuing to develop, though it’s not very keen. Her eyes will be closed for a good part of the day after she is born.
  • When she does open them, she’ll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision – which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: I will let you know after I’ve had my next appointment which is set for Wednesday, August 2nd!

Workouts: Of course! Every single day at work. Some people don’t think my job is physical, but it really is. This is what I do on the daily:

  • some strength training – lifting and moving mannequins, fixtures, and other visual elements at work. And don’t worry, I’m very careful with it all!
  • cardio – walking up and down stairs, walking back and forth between 2 buildings (I work at a location that has 2 buildings in 1 mall). Consistently for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Anything else outside of work is just “extra”. And no I haven’t done “extra” workouts in a hot minute.

Symptoms:

  • Slight nausea
  • Swelling in the feet
  • Mild heartburn and yucky tasting burps!
  • The worst leg cramp ever happened the night going into my 31st week! So painful!

Food Aversions: fast food

Food Cravings: donuts

Sleep: I don’t have any trouble falling asleep… but it really is starting to get very uncomfortable moving in bed especially when I want to roll over. And it’s difficult getting out of bed!

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? No baby stuff yet but totally related! I bought an ottoman pouf to go with a rocker my father-in-law gave me after I had Ella. I’m planning on painting it white over the weekend and I still need to buy a 2-piece cushion for it. So I’ll post up some pics of it once I’m done. I won’t get the pouf until next week but here’s what it looks like…

And I finally did our registry! My sister is in the process of designing my Baby Sprinkle invites so I needed to make sure I finished registering before the invites went out.

Stretch Marks: I think there’s some about to appear… it’s been itching just under the belly button. I’ve been lathering up like crazy!!!

Miss Anything?: just about everything that has to do with not being pregnant!

Belly Button In or Out? Out

Wedding Rings On or Off? On!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy as can be.

Any Movement? Heck yes! She doesn’t stop. Ever!

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? not a one. I’ve been pretty boring this week. Just enjoying every minute of free time I get with my only child till life gets even more chaotic!

Looking Forward To? The weekend! I want to continue nesting… cleaning and organizing. And I’m hoping to be able to paint my rocking chair!!!

My Baby Has No Name

When we found out we were finally pregnant with Ella, picking out a name was not even an issue. We had a boy name and a girl name already picked out before we even found out what we were having. Maybe that's the advantage of being together for over 15 years. We had plenty of time to think about it. And then the year of trying to conceive gave us the opportunity to really solidify our choices.

But it's different this time. We weren't in any hurry to play the name game. Turns out that all the contenders we had previously picked in our pre-baby days no longer held its luster and we just became "okay" with them.

If we were having a boy, he most likely would have been named after hubby's brother. Even though I was all set to use the name if we did have a boy 1st round, I was on the fence about it this time.

But we are having another girl. And there are just so many pretty names out there it's hard to pick just one. We want something pretty that will sound great when paired with big sister's name Ella Juliet in a sentence. We played with more E names. And then some other random names that would pop into my head.

At one point we narrowed it down to 2 names. Both starting with E. But the minute I would start liking 1 name over the other, something will happen… like a "sign"… and I'll see the other name somewhere and then I start favoring that one. So I'm constantly going back and forth. And then the other day, another name came up out of the blue. But that one didn't last very long before I went back to the original 2.

At first I refrained from telling people of the names I liked because I didn't want them to start calling her by either name before I had officially chosen one. Or have them influence my decision either. There are a select few who do know and they've already voiced their opinions on which one they prefer.

But I'm still torn.

The hubby likes both names as well.

At the rate we're going… we'll be picking her name out of a hat at the hospital when they ask us to fill out and sign her birth certificate. And if it does come down to that, I hope we pick out one we actually like and not because we felt rushed to name her.

*sigh*

I just hope our little princess doesn't resent us for not having her name picked out ahead of time if it does come down to picking it out of a hat. And I hope she doesn't think she isn't special or that we didn't care.

We just want it to be perfect.

Just like she is.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 29 Weeks Preggers

29 Weeks

See? I clean up real nice when I put forth the effort 😂. A lot of my previous pics have been taken just before bedtime because I always forget to take them. Which explains the no make-up or the ‘messy hair don’t care’ look.

And for a bonus this week, here’s a blooper shot 🤣…

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P #2 is the size of an acorn squash, measuring 15.2 inches long and weighing about 2.5 lbs and is expected to double, almost tripling her weight in the next 11 weeks.
  • As more fat is deposited under skin, her wrinkled skin is smoothing out. This white fat is is different from the earlier brown fat she accumulated as a fetus. Brown fat is necessary for body temperature regulation while white fat serves as an energy source.
  • Also, her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and her head is growing bigger to make from for her developing brain
  • To keep up with her increasing nutritional demands, I will need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: your guess is as good as mine! Not even caring about that number at this point.

Workouts: my job is my workout. Seriously.

Symptoms:

  • dizziness and lightheadedness – felt like I was gonna pass out on Thursday night after working all day and then shopping till the mall closed
  • headaches
  • Leg cramps – happens when I’m trying to roll over in bed
  • The weight of my belly is making my balance all out of whack. I got on the escalator at work and almost fell backwards with the very little movement it made going up

Food Aversions: I don’t think there were any this week.

Food Cravings:

  • Carne asada burrito
  • Crab legs
  • Pancakes drenched with syrup

Sleep: not a lot of it, but hey, I’m still functioning. Being a working mom of a 2 year old doesn’t give me the luxury of going to bed early or sleeping in till at least 7. I’m looking forward to going on maternity leave so I can get some rest.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? None yet. Been busy nesting and getting the home ready for Baby #2. Decluttering, rearranging furniture and rooms, spring cleaning… once I’m on LOA, I need to do baby’s laundry. So much to do!

Stretch Marks: nope.

Miss Anything?: simple things like being able to get up from sitting position without moaning and groaning. Or being able to bend over to pick things up off the floor without feeling like I’m gonna fall over. The belly is ginormous!

Belly Button In or Out? It’s been out.

Wedding Rings On or Off? Still on!!!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy! Considering the heat and lack of sleep, I think I’m doing just fine.

Any Movement? Yes and they are starting to really hurt! Some tickle. But as she runs out room, her jabs and kicks are just hard.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? We had our maternity session on Friday the 14th out in San Dimas. Same photographer we’ve used in the past. Totally new location for us.  We won’t see the proofs for at least a week, which is fine, I’m in no hurry to order prints just yet. But we had a good time. I was hoping to get some behind the scenes pics of the session but things were different this time around with a toddler to chase down in between shots.

Here is my monster before we left for the shoot…

Here she is towards the end of the shoot… “patiently” waiting for mom to finish getting in some solo shots to end the session. Monster was already over the whole thing… she even stripped the bow out of her hair.

And then here is my monster waiting for her dinner at The Melt.

It was a pretty eventful day for all of us. Fun but exhausting!

Looking Forward To? Seeing the digital proofs of our photos! Can’t wait to share those with you as well!
