Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 39 Weeks Preggers

Still pregnant! Had my doctor appointment at the start of my 39th week on Wednesday 9/20. Still no contractions. Still feeling anxious about going into labor. Anticipating that first wave of contractions is not a fun feeling. My midwife checked my cervix and confirmed I went from 1cm dilated/80% effaced (last week’s appointment) to 3-4cm dilated/80%effaced this week. She said there’s still no way of knowing when my body will go into labor – which is the sucky part about all of this. But she predicts that I could have Baby P #2 before my next appointment. If not, I told her we need to do a membrane sweep/strip at my next appointment to try and get this going. I really am not looking to possibly carrying this huge belly till 42 weeks. Or having to be medically induced to get her out. Nope. I’m not looking forward to doing a membrane strip either because that’s pretty painful, too… but I’d rather do that than being induced with pitocin and other drugs.

Anyway, so that’s where we’re at. We are still just waiting for her to come.

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P is as big as a pumpkin – measuring about 20 inches long and weighing about 7.3 lbs. She is continuing to grow even though the belly is running out of room.
  • She is most likely able to flex her limbs now – and I’m pretty sure she tries to every chance she gets because her movements HURT!!!
  • Her brain is still rapidly developing and getting smarter by the week!
  • Her nails may also extend past the fingertips now
  • At this point, there is nothing left to do except see the doctor each week and wait for Baby’s arrival.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: none. Thank Goodness!!! It was only a 5-day break between doctor checkups but still… it was nice to know that I did not gain in that short week.

Workouts: None whatsoever.

Symptoms: Whatever symptoms you get for being almost 9 months pregnant I have ’em all. Braxton Hicks, heartburn, lightning crotch, pelvic pressure… all of the above.

Food Aversions: anything I eat just grosses me out now.

Food Cravings: everything lol

Sleep: very difficult rolling from side to side but once I’m asleep, I’m good.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? nope. Just waiting for her to get here!

Stretch Marks:  I think there’s more since my last post. But at this point, I’ve already accepted that it’s not that big a deal. I’ll still rock them in a bikini once I’m back in shape.

Miss Anything?: Yes. Everything about not being pregnant. I’m over being pregnant. If I can’t even enjoy indulging in foods I crave because I feel gross afterwards… I just want my baby to get here so I can cuddle her instead of wishing she wasn’t hurting me from the inside. She has no room to move anymore…

Belly Button In or Out?  I don’t think it will ever be the same…

Wedding Rings On or Off? OFF!!!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Neutral. And a hot mess all at once.

Any Movement? Yes. Jabs. Pokes. All kinds of soreness going on.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Ummm…. nothing really. I’ve just been a homebody these last few days. Trying to keep the house in order and somewhat clean so that Baby P #2 can come home to a clean house.
 
Looking Forward To? Not the actual labor part, but looking forward to meeting this little human who is taking her sweet time baking in my belly.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 37 Weeks Preggers

I think I’m pretty much all set! Been doing laundry and nesting like a fiend!!! Baby P’s newborn clothes and blankets have all been washed and put away and is ready to go! Our hospital bag has been packed and is sitting by the door. The infant carseat that Ella used her first year has been cleaned and installed in the car. Ella’s bag has also been packed for the time that she will need to be staying with relatives while I’m in the hospital.

Now I just need to sit back and just relax as much as I can before the chaos.

With my first pregnancy… my 37 week update was the last one that was published before I went into labor. I hadn’t published my 38 week update because I never made it through the whole week…just a couple of days. I had Ella at approximately 38 weeks and 3 days. So this could also potentially be my last entry before this baby decides to come. The idea is exciting for sure but it still freaks me out to think that she could come any day now.

The belly is still growing and it really is getting harder and harder for me to get up off the couch, the floor, the chair… rolling over in bed? Takes minutes, not seconds, to accomplish. In my last post I mentioned being anxious about going into labor…and I still am… but I hope it doesn’t get harder than this to be mobile. Ella doesn’t quite understand my “slowness” when she wants me to play with her.

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P weighs about 6 1/3 lbs and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel, which is about the length of a Swiss chard

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: I’ll know at my 38 week checkup. Hopefully not much more.

Workouts: Doing chores around the house is my workout. Keeping up with my toddler is my workout.

Symptoms: I wanna say Braxton Hicks contractions but I’m not quite positive. And I know Baby P has “dropped” because the pressure and movements in my pelvic area hurt. Other than that…nothing new.

  • Abdominal pressure. If baby has dropped down into my pelvis in anticipation of labor, she is putting increased pressure on my abdomen, which might make me feel some new aches and pains down below—and a greater urge to pee too!
  • Contractions. At 37 weeks, cramping or contractions are to be expected. After all, I’m going to have a baby soon—my body’s ramping up! I may find that the contractions go away if I sit or lie down. That means they’re Braxton Hicks—not real labor contractions.
  • Nausea. An upset stomach is pretty typical almost any time during pregnancy. But now that I’m so close to my due date, it could be a sign I’ll go into labor soon. (Whoa!)

Food Aversions: Greasy foods.

Food Cravings: Junk food. Sweets. And greasy foods. Go figure.

Sleep: Frequent trips to the bathroom doesn’t allow for uninterrupted sleep these days but it’s been pretty good. The first full week of being on maternity leave and prepping for Baby P’s arrival didn’t leave me much time to nap with Ella when she takes her afternoon nap. But I try my best to get some extra sleep when I can. That’s about all I can do, right?

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? I bought a new belly wrap. I didn’t need one last time…or at least I didn’t think I did. But my belly is definitely bigger than last time and I need all the help I can get to get back into pre-baby shape.

Stretch Marks:  Yeah, for sure. I can’t really see how many, but they’re there. My belly has stretched more than last time. It’s gonna leave a mark. Oh well.

Miss Anything?: Just feeling normal in my own skin.

Belly Button In or Out?  I don’t have a belly button.

Wedding Rings On or Off? As I’m typing this, they’re on… but that’s because I can’t take them off. My fingers are too puffy.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy. Tired but happy.

Any Movement? Yup. All over. In my back. In my pelvic area.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Yes! So we haven’t exactly picked out a name yet but we did run a poll on Facebook just to see which name people liked most. Of course, it wasn’t meant to be the deciding factor as to which name we’d pick. But it was interesting to see there was quite a few people who felt the need to suggest other names not listed on the poll itself. It was fun to see the results… and we will announce her name when we announce her arrival.
 
Looking Forward To? Getting to spend more time with my Ella before Baby P comes. She is growing so much everyday, I don’t want to miss any of it.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 36 Weeks Preggers

I went on maternity leave at the very start of 36 weeks (August 30, 2017). I spent the first day relaxing. Fought a cold since the weekend and I just needed some time to relax. Other than that, I’ve been doing everything I can to prep for Baby P’s arrival. Been doing a lot of laundry and cleaning. And making shopping lists. Of things I am going to need in the near future. Like more nursing bras and other postpartum supplies. All of which aren’t 911 but will eventually need to be purchased in the coming weeks. One of my associates at work predicted I’d go into labor early… so I’m working on getting my hospital bag ready to go and getting Baby P’s laundry washed and sorted. So much to do!!!

Anyway… let’s get on with my update, shall we?

36 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P is still packing on the pounds – at the rate of about an ounce a day
  • She weights almost 6 lbs and is more than 18 1/2 inches long – which is about the length of a head of romaine lettuce
  • She’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body, as well as the vernix caseosa – the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her 9-month amniotic bath
  • She swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture called meconium that will form the contents of her first bowel movements

 

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: 5 lbs up from my last appointment 4 weeks prior. Brings us to a grand total of 30 lbs gained total from the start of this pregnancy. *sigh* I guess it’s all for baby right? My midwife did advise me to limit my sugar intake though. But other than that, Baby P is lookin’ good! She’s already head down and in position and her heartbeat is nice and strong. Now it’s just a matter of waiting.

Workouts: won’t be doing anything till post baby. This SoCal heat is unbearable to really do anything. Indoors and outdoors. Not for this prego lady.

Symptoms: still the same as last week. Hasn’t changed much. More exhausted? I didn’t think it would be possible, but I am.

Food Aversions: Anything greasy makes my tummy turn after I eat it.

Food Cravings: Ice Cream. Probably because of this heat.

Sleep: I want more of it!!! It’s been super hot at night so it sucks. I have to get up to pee like every 5 minutes it seems.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? After the baby shower, we went to pick up a few things that we’ll need prior to Baby P’s arrival – burp rags, wash cloths, a few bottles… whatever else we need can be bought later on after she’s here. I also bought some things for myself. Nursing bras, underwear, pjs/loungewear… just the necessities since we have a lot of things already from having Ella.

Stretch Marks:  I think so. Like a lot more of them.

Miss Anything?: Working out. I really do.

Belly Button In or Out?  Out.

Wedding Rings On or Off? Depends on the day. Some days I puff up pretty bad. Other days I’m okay.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Irritable for sure. This damn heat is just too much for this prego lady to bear.

Any Movement? Yes. A lot.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? We had our baby sprinkle!!! It was small and intimate, which was fine by me. It almost didn’t happen because I did not want to stress myself out with party planning. But the hubby decided to take on the responsibility of planning it for us. The main purpose of having it was to celebrate Baby P #2 (who by the way still does not have a name!).

Looking Forward To? Being able to truly relax and enjoy the time I have before Baby P #2 makes her appearance. Gonna spend as much time with my 2 year old as I can.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 35 Weeks Preggers

SoCal is going through a major heat wave right now and being prego and trying to look cute in this heat can be very difficult for me. When I’m at home, I just wanna lounge around in nothing but my undies and a tank. So this week’s update photo is a rare one! (no it’s not in the partial nude as just described lol). I had a birthday dinner over the weekend so I actually look sort of decent!!!

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that she’s over 18 inches long and weighs more than 5 1/4 lbs – about the size of a honeydew melon!
  • She is probably not doing somersaults anymore but the number of kicks should remain the same.
  • Her kidneys are fully developed now and her liver can process some waste products.
  • Most of her basic physical development is now complete and she’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

 

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: not quite sure but I’m afraid to find out… needless to say I’ve been eating a lot. What can I say? I don’t plan on being pregnant again so I’ve decided to just give in to my cravings and indulge. Because I am determined to get my bod back into pre-1st baby shape ASAP.

Workouts: Ha! Waiting to hit those weights postpartum for sure!!!

Symptoms: 

  • lower back aches when I’m sitting for too long or when I’m laying in bed
  • major cankles and chubby fingers!

Food Aversions: anything greasy! I’ll eat it and then immediately regret it afterwards.

Food Cravings: donuts!!!! My boss was nice enough to buy us some donuts on Friday. It was sooooo yum. And beer. Ice. Cold. Beer.

Sleep: Not bad…even with the frequent trips to the bathroom and lower backpain… I’ve been getting adequate sleep at night. And even when I nap with Ella.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? yes!!! totally saw these and had to have them…

Aren’t they super cute?! I can’t wait for Baby P #2 to use them!!!

Stretch Marks:  I’m pretty sure there will be a lot more new ones. I’ll be able to assess the damage once I pop this baby out.

Miss Anything?: Being mobile. As dramatic as it sounds… I’ve slowed down a lot when walking from point A to point B. It’s hard to walk through narrow spaces. And just being extra careful I don’t do anything to accidentally bump into things with the prego belly.

Belly Button In or Out? Out!!! 

Wedding Rings On or Off? I swelled up pretty bad on Saturday night because of the heat and my rings were stuck. So I think I might just have to take them off and keep them off till after Baby is here.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Neutral. Not too moody but I have my moments.

Any Movement? Yes. And I have to say she totally beats me up from the inside pretty good. Sometimes it even feels like I might be going into labor.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? A very good friend of mine came over on Sunday the 27th, to bring over some gifts for Baby P #2 and to hang out and let both of our toddlers play. She also brought some food, which is always a big win with this prego lady.
 
Looking Forward To? Finally going on maternity leave! Wednesday 8/30/2017 I am officially on LOA. And then it’s baby shower and finalizing preparations before baby’s arrival. Eeeeek!!!

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 29 Weeks Preggers

29 Weeks


See? I clean up real nice when I put forth the effort 😂. A lot of my previous pics have been taken just before bedtime because I always forget to take them. Which explains the no make-up or the ‘messy hair don’t care’ look.

And for a bonus this week, here’s a blooper shot 🤣…

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P #2 is the size of an acorn squash, measuring 15.2 inches long and weighing about 2.5 lbs and is expected to double, almost tripling her weight in the next 11 weeks.
  • As more fat is deposited under skin, her wrinkled skin is smoothing out. This white fat is is different from the earlier brown fat she accumulated as a fetus. Brown fat is necessary for body temperature regulation while white fat serves as an energy source.
  • Also, her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and her head is growing bigger to make from for her developing brain 
  • To keep up with her increasing nutritional demands, I will need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: your guess is as good as mine! Not even caring about that number at this point. 

Workouts: my job is my workout. Seriously.

Symptoms: 

  • dizziness and lightheadedness – felt like I was gonna pass out on Thursday night after working all day and then shopping till the mall closed
  • headaches
  • Leg cramps – happens when I’m trying to roll over in bed
  • The weight of my belly is making my balance all out of whack. I got on the escalator at work and almost fell backwards with the very little movement it made going up

 Food Aversions: I don’t think there were any this week.

Food Cravings: 

  • Carne asada burrito
  • Crab legs
  • Pancakes drenched with syrup 

Sleep: not a lot of it, but hey, I’m still functioning. Being a working mom of a 2 year old doesn’t give me the luxury of going to bed early or sleeping in till at least 7. I’m looking forward to going on maternity leave so I can get some rest.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? None yet. Been busy nesting and getting the home ready for Baby #2. Decluttering, rearranging furniture and rooms, spring cleaning… once I’m on LOA, I need to do baby’s laundry. So much to do! 

Stretch Marks: nope. 

Miss Anything?: simple things like being able to get up from sitting position without moaning and groaning. Or being able to bend over to pick things up off the floor without feeling like I’m gonna fall over. The belly is ginormous!

Belly Button In or Out? It’s been out. 

Wedding Rings On or Off? Still on!!!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy! Considering the heat and lack of sleep, I think I’m doing just fine.

Any Movement? Yes and they are starting to really hurt! Some tickle. But as she runs out room, her jabs and kicks are just hard.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? We had our maternity session on Friday the 14th out in San Dimas. Same photographer we’ve used in the past. Totally new location for us.  We won’t see the proofs for at least a week, which is fine, I’m in no hurry to order prints just yet. But we had a good time. I was hoping to get some behind the scenes pics of the session but things were different this time around with a toddler to chase down in between shots.
