Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 33 Weeks Preggers

It’s been crazy for me at work, trying to get some big projects done before I go on maternity leave so it’s taken me awhile to get to my updates. But I’ll get ya’ll caught up soon enough…

33 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P weighs a little over 4 lbs. and has passed the 17-inch mark – she’s as big as a head of celery!
  • She might even grow up to a full inch this week.
  • She is rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look, and her skeleton is hardening.
  • The bones in her skull aren’t fused together, which will allow her to move and slightly overlap, making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. These bones won’t fuse entirely until early adulthood so they can grow as her brain and other tissues expands during infancy and childhood.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: will know at my next doctor’s appointment at 36 weeks! For now, we can just assume it’s slowly going up and up and up.

Workouts: I workout in my dreams. Seriously… too tired and too sore to do any other workout besides walking.

Symptoms: nothing new. Refer to the previous post… I’m pretty sure my symptoms have been pretty consistent this entire trimester.

Food Aversions: none

Food Cravings: any and everything. Donuts are always at the top of my list. Followed by soda (like coke or pepsi), and occasionally ice cream.

Sleep: still sleeping pretty good, and only getting up once maybe twice to go to the restroom.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Just a couple of things: 1) Halo Bassinest fitted sheet and 2) Halo wearable blanket.

Stretch Marks:  I think there might be some new ones…

Miss Anything?: yes… all the simple things like being able to just get up off the couch without any struggle.

Belly Button In or Out?  I don’t think I’ll really have one at the end of this pregnancy

Wedding Rings On or Off? They are still on!!!!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Definitely a combination of both. And it really just depends on who I’m interacting with.

Any Movement? Yes! She never stops, my little ninja.

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Nah. I’m pretty boring…so nothing really exciting has happened. Just continuing to nest, nest, nest!
Looking Forward To? Going on maternity leave and spending some much needed time with my one and only child until Baby #2 arrives.

Baby P #2 Bump Watch: 32 Weeks Preggers

32 Weeks

What is up with Baby P #2 this week?

  • Baby P weighs about 3 3/4 pounds and measures about 16.7 inches long and is about the size of a jicama!
  • I’m gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to Baby P.
  • She’s going to gain about 1/3 of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb.
  • She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair.
  • Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: Had my doctor appointment on August 2nd. I gained approximately 8 lbs from my last appointment at the end of June. Total weight gained since start of pregnancy: 25 lbs. Keep your fingers crossed… trying not to gain any more than I really have to.

Workouts: ha! This prego lady ain’t doing anything extra walking or lifting outside of what I do at work as well as trying to keep up with my toddler who won’t let me relax when we get home for the day. So yeah… workouts will resume 6 weeks postpartum thank you very much!

  • Just being plain uncomfortable – getting more and more difficult to get up from sitting position, from laying in bed… just difficult to move period.
  • Shortness of breath without even walking much or far… Baby P is really taking up a lot of room in my belly.
  • Raging hormones – major mood swings from one extreme to the next.
  • Fatigue. Super freaking tired on the daily.
  • Carpal tunnel and weird cramping in my hands and feet at the most random times

Food Aversions: none I can think of

Food Cravings: everything sweet and bad for your health. Like root beer floats. And cheese. Lots of it.

Sleep: still able to sleep well. No insomnia here. No restless leg syndrome here. *knock on wood*

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Bought 4 new onesies from work.

And the 4th one – front n back…

How freaking cute is that?!

And from here on out, I will be making purchases for other items I need (and want) for baby. Like new burp rags, wash clothes, bandana bibs, muslin blankets, swaddles, and wearable blankets. And then once I’m on maternity leave, depending on if we get gifts from friends and family, I’ll be finalizing my shopping lists of must haves before Baby P arrives. Lots to do before she arrives!!!

Stretch Marks:  I think I see some new ones. There’s some red marks under what’s supposed to be my belly button. The area itches. I’m pretty sure there will be stretch marks there. *sigh*

Miss Anything?: being able to walk without waddling

Belly Button In or Out?  Very much an outtie

Wedding Rings On or Off? On!

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? This week? Pretty chill. And happy.

Any Movement? Hell yeah…

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week? Totally drawing a blank here. Guess that means nothing really exciting and new has been going on. Except for the growing belly and the constant reminders that I look like I’m about ready to pop. Yup… at this point in time, it doesn’t even faze me anymore. I kind of agree that I’m huge.
Looking Forward To? Going on maternity leave! 3 more weeks!!!

31 Weeks

Previous Pregnancy Updates:

Which brings us to the completion of my 31 weeks of pregnancy 🙂 The time is just whizzing by and I’m just hanging in there! I’m nervous and anxious to meet my little one… enjoying the pregnancy and putting up with the annoyances of being uncomfortable in this last trimester. Everyone said I’ll be wanting this baby out as I get closer to my due date, that by the time I have to deliver Baby P, I won’t be thinking about the pain of labor and all the scary stuff that comes with it.

Anyway, here I am at 31 weeks! It seems the belly has grown quite a bit since my last update pic…

31 weeks

31 weeks (2)

…And that belly will just get bigger and bigger as it gets closer to my due date.

What Is Baby P Up To This Week?

  • Baby P is about the size of a coconut, weighs approximately 3.3 lbs and measures over 16 inches long…and is heading into a growth spurt (Um, I think she already did!)
  • She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath the skin.
  • Her kicks and somersaults may be keeping me up all night – but that just means Baby P is active and healthy!
  • Baby’s brain connections are developing, too! She is now processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all 5 sense.
  • She’s also putting in longer stretches of sleep – with noticeable patterns of wakefulness and rest.

What’s Been Happening With Me This Week?

Weight Gained: So I had my doctor appointment at the very end of the 31 week mark. According to their scale, I’ve gained about 4 lbs since my last visit. So we’re lookin’ at 26 lbs total gained so far. And I’m right on track! Yay!

Workouts: I have failed miserably at this once again. No strength training. At. All. But, lots of and lots of walking still. At work. Life of a retail manager means busy, busy, busy. I’m hoping to see if I can get some strength training in from now till Baby P arrives to help with endurance since I will need it for  labor and delivery!

  • lower back pain (still)
  • extreme exhaustion
  • I get totally winded walking short distances and have to stop to catch my breath. Even walking and talking takes a lot out of me.
  • Baby P continues to hang out in my right rib and it gets pretty uncomfortable when driving home from work
  • Frequent trips to the potty day and night
  • Feeling hungry all the time but unable to eat my normal portions of food because duh, there is no room in this belly

Food Aversions: None. Perhaps that phase of pregnancy is over. I dunno. We’ll see.

Food Cravings: Any and everything coffee and chocolate! Haha. Okay so a couple of days last week, we had some chilly temps roll through SoCal and I craved some pho. Just soup in general. Only thing is, I couldn’t have any. By choice. Soup would just make me feel full and miserable. So that kinda sucked. But I got over it real quick when the temperatures got hot again.

Sleep: Surprisingly enough… pretty comfortable sleep. Not enough sleep though. And that’s because I don’t go to bed early enough. So I’m averaging 6 hours of sleep a night during the weeks. And even with the frequent bathroom trips, I’m still able to go right back to sleep and just knock out till the next potty trip or when i have to get up for work. So yeah… no complaints here.

Any Baby/Pregnancy Related Purchases? No, but that could all change soon coz I’m itchin’ to buy some clothes for Baby P. I’ve been seeing some cute clothes….

Stretch Marks? Thankfully enough, nada! Since I’ve stopped using cocoa butter, I’ve just been using my regular lotion and then after taking my shower at night, I’d rub my belly with Extra Virgin Olive Oil to keep my skin moist and prevent dry skin. The only spots that itch, if ever, is my belly button. And whenever that happens, i just rub some lotion on the area and it kinda helps.

Miss Anything? I miss my normal unpregnant body. Don’t get me wrong… that doesn’t mean I don’t like being pregnant! I know some of you will take that comment in a negative way. But the idea of having limitations and restrictions, especially at work… where I’m used to being Superwoman… it’s kinda hard to deal with. I love being pregnant with Baby P. But I really do miss being able to just walk up the stairs without feeling like I’m going to pass out. And I am pretty sure once Baby P is here… I will say “I miss being pregnant and I miss my pregnant belly”. But for now…that is my answer.

Belly Button In or Out? It is no longer an innie.

Looking Forward To: The weekend. We have a baby shower to go to for a good friend who is due in the beginning of June…not long before me! So it’ll be nice to celebrate and spoil her little girl and be able to grub on some good food! 🙂 And dessert. Looking forward to some cake. Mmmmmm.

27 Weeks

It is THE last week of my 2nd trimester. OMG where has the time gone! I swear it feels like we have still a LONG way to go… Anyway, 27 weeks. Yikes!

What Is Up With Baby P This Week?

  • Baby P is the size of a cauliflower. She measures about 14.5-15 inches long and weighs a little over 2 lbs.
  • She is a thinner, redder, and more wrinkled version of what she will look like at birth but will be gaining fat in the coming weeks to fill out her appearance.
  • Her immune system is continuing to mature as her lungs are still practicing breathing amniotic fluid
  • She is sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing those little eyes, and perhaps even sucking on his or her fingers.
  • Her brain is also very active now
  • She is able to recognize my voice now!!! And I hope she loves to hear me sing at the top of my lungs (off-key) on the long drive home from work every day!

What’s Been Happening With ME This Week?

Went in to have my blood drawn on Friday. I went in to work late because I had to wait for the labs to open and they didn’t open till 8am. The doc ordered blood tests for a complete blood count and the much dreaded 1 hr glucose test. The glucose test tests for gestational diabetes. Whether or not your body is able to digest it well.

So this awesome drink has to be consumed within a 10-minute window. Then an hour after you’ve completely consumed the yucky stuff, your blood is drawn and then tested. My results posted online last night and I don’t have gestational diabetes. Yay! One less thing to worry about.

Weight Gained: Still don’t know. Will know on Wednesday though!

Workouts: We took a long walk around the entire community only one time this week. Yeah, I have been slacking BIG on my workouts at home. But in my defense, my job is VERY physical and I am almost NEVER sitting down. Only when I’m on my breaks. Or in a meeting or on a conference call. The rest of the time, I’m running around my store working on project after project after project.

Symptoms: A little back pain and some minor cramping in my lower abdomen from running around and being on my feet all day at work. So I’ve had to take little breaks here and there to rest and remind myself that I am not SuperWoman. And sitting for long periods of time, like for example my drive home from work, is just so dang uncomfortable and my back just kills me by the time I get home from work.

Food Aversions: None this week.

Food Cravings: Starbucks’ cinnamon swirl coffee cake. I just couldn’t help myself.

Sleep: Still getting up to use the restroom 2-3 times during the night. And then not being able to fall asleep right away. Leaves me super tired the rest of my day. Story of my life.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Almost bought more baby stuff. One of the merchandisers at work told me that there were a bunch of markdowns in the newborn/infant section of the Kids Department. I purposely avoided those clearance racks on my daily floor checks. But I did treat myself to a couple of new maxi dresses and a few bottoms to accommodate and show off the growing belly. And the best part of it is, all of these new additions to my wardrobe can and will be used post pregnancy.

Stretch Marks: Nada! But the belly has been starting to itch in certain areas. And I am doing my best not to scratch!

Miss Anything?: Yes. I miss having energy. As previously mentioned, my job is physical. And to do what I do with little to no energy is just plain difficult.

Belly Button In or Out? Never thought this could happen because my belly button pre-pregnancy is a deep innie…but I think I am borderline outtie! Like it’s almost there but not quite. Maybe in another week? IDK. We’ll see.

Wedding Rings On or Off? Still on! I’m happy about that.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Happy. Baby bump is continuing to get attention and I’m totally lovin’ it.

Any Movements? She moves a lot. Especially after I eat. And during rush hour traffic. Yeah I don’t think she enjoys my road rage much.

Looking Forward To: My doc appointment this week. Not sure if I’ll be getting to see baby but I know I will be hearing her heartbeat. And I can never get tired of hearing that.

26 Weeks

And just like that, we are 26 weeks prego! My weekly turnover date is Thursdays, so I’m actually a day shy of 27 weeks but I will give you the 26 week update here!

26 weeks

What is up with Baby P this week?

  • depending on which baby app you wanna look at, Baby P is now the size of a hothouse cucumber, an eggplant, or the length of a green onion. Approximately 14 inches long from head to heel and weighs anywhere from 1.75-2 lbs.
  • she is now able to practice her breathing techniques, “breathing” in and out small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is preparing her to take her first gulp of fresh air when she enters into my world.
  • her ears are better developed and more sensitive and can hear conversations I am having with her daddy. Which means daddy better be nice to mommy!!!

What’s been happening with ME this week?

Weight Gained: I have no clue. I stay away from my home scale. My next prenatal appointment is next Wednesday, so we’ll see. The belly has grown so I can only assume I’ve gained since my last appointment.

Workouts: You will probably be shocked when I say this… but my workouts happen only when I feel like it these days. It is not the first thing on my to-do list when I get home from work like it used to be. Because 1) This pregnancy has drained me from day 1; and 2) my commute takes me forever to get home from work and I don’t wanna do a dang thing when I get home. I really only have time to make/eat dinner, make my lunch for the next day, shower, and get my butt to bed. So back to the question… I aim to walk 3x a week (usually after dinner) with the hubs and the doggies… and then I try to do squats and some upper body workouts at least 2-3 times a week. In the last week? I probably only worked out 2 days. All I have to say is… Thank goodness I was in shape before I got prego because the muscle I gained back in the day is helping me not gain unnecessary weight. Muscle definition is slowly diminishing but I can worry about building it all back up once Baby is here.

Symptoms: No more sore boobs. BUT! I experienced some nausea after eating lunch at least a couple days this past week. I guess it happens. Oh! And exhaustion. I’ve learned to accept that I’ll be forever exhausted until Baby P becomes an adult and leaves the nest.

Food Aversions: Hmmmm… I don’t think I had any this week.

Food Cravings: Orange soda. Yeah one day at work, I just thought to myself “I need an orange soda.” I’m not a soda drinker. And orange soda has never been a choice of flavor for me… but I seriously wanted one. Didn’t give in tho! And Fried Chicken. That has been a constant craving throughout this pregnancy but no one will let me have it. Every person we know that ate fried chicken during their pregnancies have had bad experiences with em. So I’m just staying away. And then, of course, sweets and carbs. Yup… everything I don’t usually eat.

Sleep: Sucks. Not that I don’t have insomnia or anything like that. It’s just getting to be very uncomfortable sleeping on my sides and not being able to lay on my back to give my hips a break. I think it’s starting to affect my sciatic nerve. Sometimes I’ll experience numbness. Thankfully, no leg cramps this week. Yay me! And it doesn’t help that I get up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases? Yes!!! I just couldn’t resist! I saw these in passing at work. Wasn’t shopping at all but we’ve been getting in new stuff almost everyday and these totally caught my eye. I took a picture of it to show my hubs via text with a caption that read “isn’t this the cutest thing ever?” And he replied “get it.” Uh, yeah… you don’t have to tell me twice!

baby clothes

Stretch Marks: none yet! Let’s keep it that way please!

Miss Anything?: heck yes! I miss having energy to be Superwoman. I miss my old workouts. I just miss being able to stay up past 9 on the weekdays and not be such an old lady.

Belly Button In or Out? Still in!!!

Wedding Rings On or Off? On! No swelling as of yet.

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? Super happy! Except when I’m stuck in traffic.

Any Movement? Baby P is a combination of a kickboxer and dancer. Yup. At any given time I’ll feel/see a kick or a jab. And then I’ll feel a lot of flutters. She’s a very active baby!

Looking Forward To: Getting some baby gear from my lil sister-in-law this weekend! And maybe adding more stuff to our registries! Fun stuff!!!!

Like I said, tomorrow I will be 27 weeks. But I won’t be able to whip up an update till this weekend. Until then….

Pregnancy Q&A!

So, even though my pregnancy news is finally out there, I’m still getting a lot of surprised reactions by people I work with or haven’t seen in awhile. I get a lot of “you’re so tiny” and “you hid it well”. Truth is, I haven’t been “hiding” it. I just chose not to broadcast it to people who aren’t close to me, to avoid all the unsolicited advice since this is my first pregnancy. And at work, I wear a lot of black and I didn’t really start showing until almost about 20 weeks so it was easy to miss. But everyone’s excited for me and I couldn’t be happier at this point in my life. I am very grateful for all the wonderful support from family and friends and cannot wait to share the rest of this pregnancy with everyone.

With that said…here are some questions I’ve had to answer since making the “big announcement.”

How did you find out you were pregnant? I took a home pregnancy test.

What kind of Pregnancy test did you take? Honestly? A cheap one I picked up from the 99cent Store awhile back. We had already spent a lot on brand name ones (First Response and Clear Blue) on the times we thought we could be pregnant and they can get pretty pricey! And after the cashier from Target told me I’m wasting my money on the expensive brands, and that his girlfriend used the cheap ones from the 99cent Store for all her 5 pregnancies and all worked fine, I decided I’d try those ones instead in hopes I’ll get lucky.

How many? Just one. It was the last one of the batch of like 2 or 3 that I had bought a couple of months prior.

What were your 1st symptoms? Fatigue, VERY sore boobs, and extreme sensitivity to smells. Oh! And the most obvious – I was a week late for my monthly visitor.

Who did you tell first? Baby’s Daddy!!!

Who was with you when you found out? I was by myself in the bathroom. Only because I didn’t want him to experience another disappointment if the results came back negative. We had just come back from the grocery store and I really had to pee (TMI, I know). So while he was putting the groceries away, I snuck away to the bathroom to do my business. Something told me to just do it. Especially after noticing that the smell of EVERY SINGLE AISLE we went down made me gag. I just thought it was weird. So I did it.

My 1st reaction? I stood there and waited for the lines to appear (or not appear). And when I saw the 2 lines, I was like “NO FREAKIN’ WAY!” But I couldn’t help but feel excited at the same time. Especially after  having seen so many negative tests in the past, FINALLY seeing the positive was just awesome.

Was your baby planned? Heck yes!

How far were you when you found out? I took the test on Sunday November 9th… so about 5 1/2 weeks.

How did your parents/family react? They were thrilled! Like I said, we waited till the end of the 1st trimester to finally tell our families. He and I are the last ones in both of our families to have kids so everyone’s been impatiently waiting for us to finally give them a niece/nephew/grandson/granddaughter.

How did you tell your friends? some friends were told in the same fashion as the video shown above… I just haven’t had the chance to edit the video clips into a montage. Others, we just texted them the video and also posted it onto our social media accounts.

Due Date: July 9, 2015

Do you know the sex? yup! (And I will announce it in a future post!)

Any names? Of course! We’ve had names picked out for years.

Were you trying long? Almost a year.

Any Ultrasounds? Yes! from my first prenatal appointment, from Part 1 of the NIPT screening, and then the extensive one at 20 weeks where we were able to find out baby’s gender.

First Prenatal Appointment @ almost 11 weeks
10week ultrasound

Part 1 NIPT screening @ 12 weeks
12week ultrasound

Have you heard the heart beat? Ohhh yes! And I love hearing it every single time I go to the doctor.

Who do you think it will look like? This one’s a hard one. Our Haole-pino baby will definitely be a mix. Daddy-to-be is a mixture of all kinds of stuff – German, Native American, Irish, Lithuanian, to name a few. And I’m Filipino. Maybe some Spanish but I don’t know for sure. So we’re thinkin’ baby will be fair-complected (lighter than me, of course) with dark features: hair and eyes. This is just my guess.

Will the baby have siblings? Future siblings? Maybe 1. Or 2. We’ll see. Right now, our furbaby Tipsy will be the only sibling.

Have you felt the baby move? yes! ALL the time! And it is the most amazing feeling EVER!!! We even got to see baby kick/punch the other night. Nothing crazy, like hands, elbows, or feet. But still so very cool.

How do you feel? I feel GREAT!!!! Still very tired, but so worth it.

Do you have morning sickness? Nope. Was lucky enough not to have it.

Do you have any cravings? Not anything in particular. Sometimes I’ll crave random sweets. Sometimes salty. Nothing crazy. The constant cravings I get, but won’t give in to, is Deep Fried Chicken. Yeah… that’s a lot of grease. Gonna try to hold out for as long as I can. Right this second though? I’m craving some watermelon.

Do you have any food aversions? I did in the beginning. I couldn’t stand my usual healthy foods. I had to force myself to eat my salads.

Do you have any mood swings? Gotta love those pregnancy hormones!!! For the most part, I have been cool as a cucumber. Lovin’ this whole entire experience and have been told I have that “pregnancy glow”. BUT, occasionally I’ll go from one extreme to the next. I’d start stupid arguments for no reason to crying over spilled milk in a matter of minutes. I noticed my road rage has gotten worse. But can you blame me? My commute to and from work is just plain HORRIBLE!!!!

How far along are you now? 25 weeks and 3 days – here are my weekly baby bump pics.
